Name of Club: Robotics
Sponsors: Mrs. Carter and Ms. Helms
Purpose: Fairview Elementary Robotics Club students build robots with VEX IQ components. VEX IQ is a robotics platform designed to transform STEM learning for young students and their teachers. In the VEX Competitions, students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams from around the county, state, and world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test on the playing field as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. Tournaments at held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels. 4th and 5th graders who have been nominated by their teachers are eligible to be in the club. 2022-2023 club members have already been chosen.
Description of Planned Activities:
Students participating in the Robotics club will practice on Monday-Thursday mornings from 7:05a-7:35a in the Media Center. Competitions will be held at the Newton College and Career Academy on November 5, 2022 and January 21, 2023.
