Name of Club: FVES Reading Eagles Book Club

Purpose: The purpose of the FVES Reading Eagles Book Club is to create interest among students regarding the importance of reading, to model appropriate methods of reading, and to spread a reading culture throughout our school.
Description of Planned Activities: Students interested in the 2025-2026 FVES Reading Eagles book club can complete an interest form in the Fall of 2025. The first 25 students with an interest form and permission slip returned by September 2025, signed by a parent giving permission for the student to participate, will receive one copy of each of the the three books we will be reading during the school year. These books are theirs to keep. The Reading Club will meet bi-weekly beginning in September, 2025 and ending in February, 2026. Any student in grades 3-5 may participate. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who participate in the Book Club and read the first three books by February, 2026 will have the opportunity to be chosen for the Reading Bowl competitive team. The competitive team will compete in the virtual "quiz-bowl" type competition against other Newton County elementary school teams in February of 2026. The top scorers from FVES will win a spot to attend TomeCon, a literary conference, in March 2026.
