Purpose: On the Fairview Elementary VEX IQ Robotics Team, students build robots with VEX IQ components. VEX IQ is a robotics platform designed to transform STEM learning for young students and their teachers. In the VEX Competitions, students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams from around the community, state, country, and world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test on the playing field as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. Tournaments at held year-round at the regional, state, national and world levels. 4th and 5th graders who have been nominated by their teachers and filled out an application with Mrs. Carter are chosen to be on the team.

Description of Planned Activities:
Students participating on the team will practice on Tuesday-Thursday mornings from 7:05a-7:35a in the Media Center beginning in September 2023. Afternoon practices will begin on Thursdays until 5pm in October 2023 and will continue through January 2024. Competitions will be held at the Newton College and Career Academy in the Fall of 2023 and Winter of 2024.
